Canada Post Rant

Why is it that different post offices charge different rates for the same parcels and even different staff within the same post office charges different rates? I just went to send a parcel within Canada that falls below the 2cm rule. At first the woman wanted to charge me over $10.00. When I complained she measured again and this time it was $1.18. I know anything over 2 cm within Canada would be over $10 and the same packaged shipped from Canada to the United States would be about half that price.

While I'm on the subject why does one post office require customs forms and send the package as a small packet and another requires no customs forms (when shipping outside Canada) and ships as a letter. Technically I think that any package that doesn't contain a letter and is shipped outside Canada even thin packages such as my buttons should require customs forms. Now I don't work for the post office and I go to the post office specifically for their expertise so I can make sure my packages get shipped off correctly with the correct forms and the correct postage. I'm more than a little concerned that Canada post employees don't really all seem to be on the same page as far as rates are concerned. Makes me wonder how many times I've been overcharged!

Thanks for taking the time to read my rant. I feel better now. Off my soapbox and back to making buttons.

New Buttons

Not sure what to do with myself these days. After suffering the loss of both my parents over the last couple of months many daily tasks just seem too difficult to master. Once source of pleasure has been in creating my buttons. My parents were so proud of them. When my Dad was in the hospital before his heart surgery he insisted on showing the nurses the buttons. Making the buttons makes me think of them and how proud they were of me. I hope they can see me now and know how much I miss them and that I'll keep making the buttons with them in mind.
The images used in these buttons were purchased from a wonderful Etsy seller Piddix. You can find her images here http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=46139&ga_search_query=piddix&ga_search_type=seller_usernames..

Happy Easter Everyone

Just a quick post to say I hope everyone is enjoying a beautiful long weekend with their families. This is the first of many holidays without my parents and I'm missing them terribly. I'm trying not to dwell on this because that is not what they would want. I just wanted to take a minute and acknowledge them and say to those of you who are sharing the holiday with family to enjoy each and every moment.

Back in the Blog World

I've decided to try getting back into the blogging world. I've had some very difficult personal times the last few months and wasn't able to be motivated enough to keep up with my blog. I will keep this short and will perhaps share more details later. Right now it's just too difficult to write about.

After being ill all winter with heart problems my Dad had heart surgery (a valve replacement) and died a couple of weeks later. This was in February. Yesterday my mother's house burnt down and she didn't make it out of the house. I am dealing wih all of this the best I can. I think I decided to take this time to write in my blog because I know how proud they are of my buttons and they would want me to continue.

I know it may seem a strange time to begin to write again but I think I want to write in my blog so I can honour their memory. I will share more later as my heart allows. This is all I can manage for today.

I love you Mom and Dad. I miss you.
